One of the most showy of the early springtime woodland wildflowers in eastern North America has to be the large-flowered trillium, Trillium grandiflorum. With its whorl of three large green leaves providing a backdrop to its three large white petals, this flower is impossible to miss. The white petals often turn pink as they age, which tells you when they are past their peak.
These prime specimens were photographed in Germantown MetroPark southwest of Dayton, Ohio.
